A new brush & ink drawing:
The Bird-Headed Man, 2010, brush & ink on card, 11" x 8.5".
One of my "darker" images, though ironically I noticed as soon as I started that I was almost out of ink, so this drawing contains a rather diluted mixture. Note to self: get more ink.
William T. Ayton is a British artist based in Tempe, Arizona & New York's Hudson Valley. His work deals with the human condition, social issues and myth. He creates drawings, paintings & augmented reality pieces, and has recently started to experiment with AI-generated art.

The Trashed Office
We've wrecked a couple of offices (artistically & literarily(?) speaking) during the course of Shadow Bay:
Continuing the countdown to the final episode of Shadow Bay (aka Chapter 18), due out on Friday...

Destroy the Evidence
Another image from the forthcoming (final) Chapter 18 of Shadow Bay...
The chapter is pretty much done, but since it's the last one, we'll probably keep tinkering with it until Thursday...and put it up on Friday morning.

A Cup of Coffee...
Meanwhile, back at Shadow Bay, things were drawing to a close...
That's one of the quieter moments of Chapter 18, the final episode of Shadow Bay. It will be posted on Friday, probably, when the dust has settled & the edits are made.

Love, War, Fire, Wind: Poetry Pick for 2009
This just in: the Katz/Ayton poetry/art book "Love, War, Fire, Wind: Looking Out from North America's Skull" has been picked by the About.com poetry section as one of the highlights of 2009. Here is the link.
From the review (thanks to Bob Holman & Margery Snyder):
Eliot Katz is an American Purist, a political writer sans compromise, a keen observer of the human condition and what got us here. Love, War, Fire, Wind combines his words with art works by William T. Ayton. It has some big, blistering poems—“Rocking the Globe from D.C.”: “They have boarded off the demonstration’s / central planning space”—and short character sketches—“‘My shoes are too tight,’ / she answered. / ‘I think if I keep walking / one day they’ll stretch.’”...
Congratulations to Eliot Katz. I'm pretty happy, too.

Here's Shooting At You...
Shadow Bay Chapter 17 is now live. It's a big one (35 images.) The biggest so far, in fact. Best. Episode. Ever.
This chapter is pretty much the climax of the novel, so if you haven't been reading & would like to, you should go back to the beginning & catch up. There is a table of contents on the right hand side of the blog window.
Only one chapter left...

Send In The Clowns
I was never particularly interested in painting clowns before Shadow Bay, as they seemed to me like a bad cliche...however, if the script demands it...
Chapter 17 will be up tomorrow, most likely.

In the Ensor crowd
Here is another image (of 34) from the upcoming, penultimate chapter (#17) of Shadow Bay, the noir visual novel I've been working on for over 6 months with friend & writer Donald J. Rothschild:
The image shows Detective Paduano of the Rosehill police among a group of "Ensor" faces at a Florida racetrack. You'll have to read the story to make sense of this. Donald & I use "Ensor" as a codeword for "dark, grotesque, disturbing" etc. It's a reference to James Ensor, the Belgian artist, who produced dark, disturbing images of skeletons, masks, skulls & the like. I like his artwork a lot. Look him up...
Shadow Bay is now about 96% (a guesstimate) done. We'd like to find a nice publisher or similar to get this out to a larger audience. If you know anyone like that, pls drop me a line.

Fireworks
A new image from Shadow Bay, Chapter 17 (penultimate chapter.)
It's an important chapter with many images (about 34.) I'm hoping to have it up by Friday, if all goes well.

Drive, Baby, Drive
David Fisher (anti-hero protagonist of Shadow Bay) is off somewhere in a hurry...hmm...wonder where he's going...
So, Shadow Bay is nearing completion with chapter 16 (out of 18 total) getting its final adjustments...should be up on Friday if the gods smile down on us...
