This is a study for a painting I'm intending to do on a larger scale. BTW, I'm not against industries or industrialists, just the toxic ones.
The Industrialist (study), 2012, acrylic on circular canvas, 16" diameter.
William T. Ayton is a British artist based in Tempe, Arizona & New York's Hudson Valley. His work deals with the human condition, social issues and myth. He creates drawings, paintings & augmented reality pieces, and has recently started to experiment with AI-generated art.

A long title, but I think it gets the point across.

The photo is a bit blurry in places, there is a little glare, & the color is a bit off...

The Doge / Scan vs. photo
I had this drawing (that I had already photographed) scanned at a place in Kingston NY (Catskill Art & Office Supplies), as it was too large for my standard desktop scanner (made by Lexmark). It's interesting to see the difference—the scan is obviously cleaner (no glare or shadows), more accurate (no distortion from cropping & straightening, or from camera angle), but the photo is actually surprisingly decent...

The Hat That Reached the Sky
I seem to have a fascination with tall hats (from time to time, at least). This painting was done in a somewhat primitive style, which was mostly due to my continued tinkering with it.

A Man Made of Ashes
This one reminds me a little of the work of Arcimboldo, the painter who made heads constructed of fruit, vegetables, fish, etc. This wasn't necessarily intended to be made of ashes, but that is what it looked like when it was finished.

Dibujos Para Colorear | Drawings To Color
This is another one in a continuing series where I have found one (or more) of my artworks on another web site or blog in an odd context...this time it's the drawing below of a head (done with the infamous liquid graphite pencil, which I didn't like very much, so I tried to give it away to my kids...)
Head in 3/4 Profile, 2011, liquid graphite on paper, 11" x 8.5".
Here is the link to this & other drawings (not mine) suitable for coloring: http://es.imagixs.com/color-theory/page-7. It strikes me as a bit of an odd choice for a coloring image, due to its lack of strong outlines, which I would have thought would be a prerequisite, but what do I know? Below are some (IMHO) better examples...
A Forest, 2011.
The Acrobats, 1993.
Eros & Thanatos Were Lovers, 2003.
Here's an idea...if anyone wants to color these in, either digitally or print them out & do it the traditional way, & then send them to me (or send me a link or something), I may put them up here (if I like them, of course)...there might even be some sort of prize...though relatively few people read these posts...but, you never know...
TIP: if you click on the images to view/download, you'll get a larger version, which would be more coloring-friendly.

Whisky & a chaser / Shadow Bay
Shadow Bay just received a small review in the latest (March 2012) Chronogram magazine here:
Shadow Bay: A Noir Visual Novel
Donald Rothschild, art by William T. Ayton
Epigraph, 2012, $17.95
Rhinebeck’s Rothschild and Ayton invent their own genre for this hard-boiled tale of a sportswriter and an auburn-haired restaurateur who meet at a Gamblers Anonymous meeting and the racetrack, getting over their heads in corruption and murder. The pungent text and evocative black-and-white paintings don’t cohabit frames as in most graphic novels, but deliver the goods side by side, like a shot of whisky and a chaser.

Rilke's Angel
My drawing from 2000, Rilke's Angel, has just appeared on the Disability Arts Online (UK) web site in a blog posting by Nicole Hodges...she wrote & asked me if she could use it to go with her Rilke-inspired poem, After Rilke's ninth elegy (which is very good, btw), & I said yes. Here, below, is the drawing again:
Rilke's Angel, 2000, brush & ink on paper, 25.75" x 19.25" approx.
