Tendrilhead

An ink drawing of a head on blue-gray tinted paper. Related to the Tree Man series of pieces.

Head On

New brush pen drawing on tinted paper with white acrylic. I don't very often draw heads face on, so this is a little departure for me.

Lonely Man and Mountains

My latest melancholy head:

Woman in a Storm

The latest in a series of somewhat iconic heads done in ink (mostly) on tinted paper. The paper is actually Canson pastel paper, so it has a surface texture not intended for ink drawing (ink drawing paper tends to be smooth), but I find that I like/need a surface texture to work against.

Cathedral of Ice

This is another ink drawing on tinted paper that I did for the "Journey to Somewhere" collaboration with artist Barry Farmer.

The Golem's Dream

I've drawn the Golem before, but this time the reddish, earthy tint of the paper helped give a sense of the clay composing the creature...

The Girl with the Faraway Eyes

Another otherworldly head on tinted paper.

The Girl with the Faraway Eyes, 2011, china marker with ink on tinted paper, 12" x 9".

Thanks to The Rolling Stones for providing me with a title for this drawing.

Sleeping in the Wilderness

Another drawing on tinted paper (I bought a new pad of Canson pastel paper), this time featuring the "fetal figure" that tends to appear from time to time...

Keeper of the Spheres

Final tinted paper drawing (until I get some more Canson pastel paper...)

The Honest Man

I find that working on the tinted paper is giving my drawings a bit of a new dimension, letting me go a little further into them, adding a little sensitivity, perhaps. We'll see where this leads...

A Glimpse of the Ineffable

Another ink drawing on the tinted paper:

A Glimpse of the Ineffable, 2011, brush & ink on tinted paper, 12" x 9".

You only get a glimpse, it seems. Any more might kill you...

Merlin

I called this one "Merlin", as that is what it made me think of...
