Manipulator of the World

This is a new painting on plywood panel done in oil paint. I tend not to paint in oil during the colder months, as my studio is expensive to heat, so it's easier to work inside with acrylics. This is from some new oil paintings I'm working on at the moment. I took the photo while the paint was still wet, and you can see that in parts, such as the upper left blue sky, where the light is reflecting off the liquin (glazing/drying agent) I used with the paint.

The Man Who Named the Mountains

This is another large monochrome painting on a sheet of cardboard. I kept this one pretty loose, it's mainly composed of a series of washes, so the edges are quite soft compared to much of my work. The title suggested itself as I was working on it.

Although I like the faint, almost ghostly qualities of silverpoint, I discoved today that if I use liver of sulphur, the lines will tarnish to dark brown & perhaps even black. I shall have to try it.
