The Return of Jürgen Waxweiler

I just got this postcard today from my German sculptor friend Jürgen Waxweiler:

The last time Jürgen sent me a postcard announcing an exhibit, it took me weeks to get it up on the blog, by which time the show was over, or almost over. This time, I'm cutting to the chase. Here are the details:



I met Jürgen what seems like two lifetimes ago, but it was only two years, at the Museum on the Seam show, "Bare Life" in Jerusalem. It was a great show & I'm glad to see that Jürgen is still working away & showing his work. If you're reading this & near his studio, please go along & say hi.

Jürgen Waxweiler -- new show

I've been a bit remiss in uploading this -- I received it a few weeks ago & it got buried in the summer stuff. Jürgen Waxweiler, whom I met in Jerusalem last year for the "Bare Life" show at the Museum on the Seam (see below) sent me a flyer for his show at the Galerie Marita Jaeger, Hasenfelder Str. 6, 52396, in Heimbach, Germany. Hope I got that address correct. The show runs from August 1, 2008 to 12 October, 2008. Didn't get this up in time for the opening, but I hope it's a great show.

The Further Adventures of Jürgen Waxweiler

My German sculptor friend, Jürgen Waxweiler, (whom I met in Jerusalem at the Museum on the Seam) just sent me a photo of his latest exploits. He was up in Canada in Winnipeg making sculptures out of snow, which is a cool (pun intended? I'm not sure) thing to do. Here he is with a large foot. Whilst the cold & snow are keeping me inside & not making much art, he is definitely out & about.

The Swing on the Roof

This is a shot from the roof of the Museum on the Seam during the opening for the "Bare Life" show. Left to right: Diana Ayton-Shenker (aka my much better half, goddess & muse), Jürgen Waxweiler (German sculptor featured in the show), myself, a Museum Guy (I will have to ask Raphie for the guy's name). The swing is by Carsten Höller from Belgium, & is not recommended for actual use, as it's 4 stories up, above a busy street. But that, as they say, is the whole point.
