Another new, small, light-infused painting. I'm enjoying giving my works more breathing space & a lighter palette. I will probably return to more monochrome themes, but for now I'm stretching out in this direction.

The Fortune Teller
This new small painting is more of a traditional "scene" (figure in a landscape with a tower, clouds, etc.) than many of my pieces. I think it works quite well & may well be the beginning of a series...we'll see...

Morpheus in His Land of Dreams
This is the latest in a mini-series of artworks depciting Morpheus, god of dreams. It was done on a small jute (type of fibre used to make canvas) panel, with the grain & color of the support showing through.

Woman with a White Headdress
This is a small piece done on a jute panel that I purchased from the local craft store over at the mall. I've always like the slightly ragged, unfinished look & feel of raw canvas, so this was a small chance to work on that surface. The panel came in a pack of three, so there may well be one or two others like this coming up soon.
If you click on the image to zoom in, you can really see the richness of the texture.

The Green Man
I realized that it had been a while since I had done a color painting, so here is a new one. It relates to my "Tree Man" series which weaves in & out of my work. The green color was also partly inspired by the greenish hue of the Mona Lisa, a small reproduction of which was on the wrapper for the gessoed board that this was painted on. It's fairly thickly painted in acrylic, which doesn't always lend itself well to impasto, but came out quite well in this case, & the light hit it at a good angle for the photo.

This is a monochrome painting on cardboard that I started a few days ago & finished today. It changed quite a lot during the process, which is not unusual for me.
