Automaton (the World is a Hollow Glass Sphere)

As I think I've mentioned before, the titles of my artworks tend to come to me whilst I'm making them, as my mind starts to make sense of the ideas & images. This one might have been called "The Boy Who Thought the World Was a Toy", but it wasn't.

The Boy Who Dreamed of Babel

Here is another painting depicting the Tower of Babel, though in this case it is relegated to a background element.

The Boy Who Sang at the End of the World II

I wasn't completely happy with the way the first version of this piece worked out, so I thought I'd try it again. This is now closer to how I intended it to be, but now, ironically, I suspect that the first version is better in many ways...perhaps the third version will be the charm.

The Boy Who Sang at the End of the World II, 2013, acrylic on board, 10" x 8".

Below is the original version:

Morphing Heads

This is another animated GIF experiment done with Squirlz Morph, a freeware morphing program. I used two recent small paintings of heads, the Boy with a Long Neck, & the Madonna of the Western Lands, to create this strangely fascinating & disturbing image of the male & female images morphing into each other. I originally made this for my Tumblr blog (mymythsandmonsters.tumblr.com), but I thought I would also post it here.

Boy

Head of a young man...this was pretty much an overgrown doodle over some random marks where I'd cleaned my ink brush on a piece of paper...

The Boy From Atlantis

This is a new smallish color acrylic painting...I've long been fascinated by the idea of Atlantis as discussed by Plato, and possibly even more so by the seemingly futile attempts of humans to find it...

This painting was done specifically for the Journey to Somewhere collaboration on Flickr with Barry Farmer.

Boy

Head of a boy drawn on tinted paper...the tone of the gray gives the drawing more depth, I think.

Boy by the Sea

I realized I hadn't put a new piece of artwork up here for quite a few days, especially a colored one, so here is a small new painting:

Boy by the Sea, 2009, acrylic on board, 10" x 8".

Painted on an amber-colored ground. Not a particularly large or important painting, it just seems to glow with warmth.
